How I built it
When I started, I was nervous. I’d never sold anything. But I made one rule for myself: never let an opportunity pass me by.
That rule built my business. I’ve never cold called for myself, not once. About 70% of my clients have come from referrals and the other 30% from Upwork, where I’m Top Rated with a 100% Job Success Score (Upwork’s rating of how happy clients are with a freelancer’s work) across more than 1,000 clients.
I still work with 2 of my first 5 clients. Together they’ve referred at least 40 more clients, and I’ve made over 7 figures from those 2 clients alone. That’s what doing good work, following up and asking for referrals can do.
